GDesktop is a great product. But it is incomplete without GMail. Should
not GoogleDesktop allow us to search our gmails. If we all request for
this this may be available. But why doesn't Google integrate Gmail.
What keeps them from adding gmail into GoogleDesktop?

One is in Beta, and one is not.

Which one is not in beta?
Both Google Desktop and GMail are in Beta. They have the Beta symbol in
their logo.

Sorry, I shoud have said that one is in early beta, and one is not.
I've been using Gmail for so long that I forgot it's still in beta.
GDesktop is farely new, and is missing lots of basic features. One of
them being Gmail support...

Yeah, I love the gdesktop...but I want a way to kill the archives
sometimes...it's good but it archives...EVERYTHING...and it kinda
creeps me out since this is a family computer...They sould have us
"log in" or something and then it will archive user spacific stuff...
ie, web cashe and im conversations...I don't like that anyone on this
computer can view em.

You have the option to pause it for 15 minutes. Rightclick it. It warns
you on time, so you can renew it.
If you want to do something "nasty" for much longer than 15 minutes,
then I suppose you shouldn't use GDS.

Pretty much :) Once when I was in school I had a directory called
"Porn" in student-drive and inside I made pictures in MS Paint that
said "So you do look in my student-drive!" and saved them as
"pic1.jpg" etc.. One day It was modified to say "Yes, I do. - Mr
<Computer Teacher>"

also google does more of preview beta's rather then true betas

originally betas were merely for getting bugs out

So no new features, but as shown in gmail's beta google has a
different def. they add new features during the beta

Really Google Deskbar is more of an Alpha build since they plan on
adding more features google just likes saying beta (sorry if somebody
already said this, I didn't feel like reading the whole thread)

I think that it might be because Google Desktop is a PUBLIC beta
meaning anyone can get it and GMail is a semi-PRIVATE beta meaning that
only invited people can join. If GDesktop had GMail features built in
then people would be screaming that they should have access to GMail
and Google isn't ready to do that yet, I guess.

I've uninstalled Google Desktop. I'm going to switch to MSN Desktop
when it comes out (looks better and is fully integrated into the start
menu).
Someone installed Google Desktop at school so it indexes when people
use the PC. Probably making you able to access everyone's work - lol.
