cut and paste within gmail

Sorry if this has been brought up before. Often when I type a long
letter I like to go back through it with the desire to change the
order of the paragraph structure. Gmail does not seem to allow me to
cut and paste as I would wish. Makes no sense to me. Is it just me
doing something wrong or is this built into the system as I suspect it
is? If it is built in -why??

All you have to do is use the browser's keyboard shortcuts for cut, copy and paste.
CTRL/CMD + C - Copy
CTRL/CMD + X - Cut
CTRL/CMD + V - Paste

Thanks Nick,

I was using the mouse before as I normaly would do and that was not
working, however the keyboard shortcuts work as you suggested they
would.
