I'm working with my kids dance team and wanted to get a GMail account for team but, according to GMail, the name is taken.

When I send an email to the account through GMail is says the account does not exist.

So, how do I let GMail let itself know that the account does not exist so I can claim it?

Alan,

There are two likely scenarios, neither are going to be what you'd like.

Either, the name contains one of their reserved words (like admin) which won't let you create the account, but uses that same error; or, the account was created, and later deleted.  Google does not have an official policy that I've ever seen to recycle usernames, so there's little chance you'll be able to get that name.

Sorry.
