I've been thinking that I'd like the ability to toggle conversation view on or off for selected conversations rather than globally.  Currently the view can only be changed globally.

Hello,

I setup a filter to forward router logs to my wife and also label them  "Router Logs". The filter works just fine but for some reason, they aren't threaded under my label, but the forwarded logs that go to my wifes Gmail are.

I know you can turn threaded conversations on and off, but thats a global option. How do I turn it on for just that one label?

Thanks,
Tony

It's on the suggestion page.  Click to show your support.

It's not.  It's just that the way that conversations are determined, did not mark these together.  It's more about how they're received, not sent.

Any idea why "Conversation View" is off for just this one label?

I didn't see it there, though I found some other suggestions I liked for which I added my support.

Is this the page?

That's not odd at all. Subject is not what determines conversation.
Each of those router logs, although having the same subject, is not
part of the same conversation ie. none of them contain the headers
'In-Reply-To' or 'References' to any of the others.

ok, thanks, but how come they are "threaded" in my wifes label under the same name after they are forwarded to  her?

The forwarding probably adds some header(s) that cause that.

Well... it USED to be listed there... perhaps it didn't get enough clicks, or perhaps it did, and it's being working on.

To add to Marko's response... in short, Tony, they are NOT the same message that you received.  When she receives them, they are from you, and the headers have changed significantly.  When you received them, they were from somewhere else, and the headers said one thing.

No system's threading method I've tried yet was flawless, which is why I always supported the suggestion to allow users to manually break/add conversations.
