Desktop notification on firefox

Why is desktop notification not working on firefox ?
I'm running current build of Aurora (which is firefox 23.0a2) and desktop notification have been working since version 22.
I can even test it here and it works fine http://jsbin.com/notification/571/edit.

In the settings tab, Gmail just tells me that my browser don't support desktop notifications (which is obviously wrong).

Am I doing something wrong or gmail's notifications are not standard HTML5 notification ?

I have just tried with Firefox Nightly 24.0a1 and it's not working either. I believe the desktop notifications use the webkitNotifications API which, I believe is not fully supported in FF. You can test this here.

Gmail notifications only use webkit notifications which are what Chrome uses.  Until Gmail reconfigures their system to use notifications from Firefox, that option will only be available for Chrome users.

I believe that there are addons for Firefox, called Tab Notifier. Google Tab Notifier, and Desktop Notifications for information
