I have a Hotmail account which is often used to send email to groups I am teaching. The Hotmail account is set up so that responses are to be sent to my Gmail account. This generally works fine. However, I have had at least three instances in which I have had someone orally tell me that they have responded to me, but I have never received a response.

Has anyone else had this problem (with Hotmail or any other email program)? Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated. Thank you. (I have checked the Spam folder in Gmail and the responses have not be sent there.)

I have never had this problem.  The only thing I would have suggested is the spam, but it looks like you have that covered.  I am assuming that you are using your hotmail account for some reason so reccomending that you use only gmail won't work.  Maybe you should take off the reply-to address.  Some mail servers might get confused from it.  If you just have them reply to your hotmail account and then have all of your hotmail forwarded to your gmail account - that might work.

Did you ever think that maybe your students are lying to you because they forgot to do an assignment?

I assume you checked to see if the email was marked as SPAM. GMail has
been experiencing that problem.

You can also use a free 3rd party app called "Get Mail" - I used it, at
least initially, to migrate from hotmail to gmail. But it can also act
as a forwarder of hotmail email to gmail (or any other email address)
and it's free...

It is not spam because I have checked. And it is not a case of a
student who did not do work. The teaching situation is a volunteer
program with other seniors, and only one of three instances involved a
current student.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks, I will check out Get Mail. I have turned off the forwarding
feature for the present, so that responses go to the Hotmail account.

Yes, I checked and it was not put into spam. Thanks for the reply.
