connection timed out in Eudora

Wow - two days in the group and my second question already...

For reasons which remain unexplained, I started getting an SSL
Certificate problem downloading Gmail into Eudora a few days ago.

I messed around with the Personality properties in Eudora, as indicated
in THEIR support group. That problem disappeared, only to be replaced
by "connection timed out", which coughs up very quickly after trying to
establish the connection - i.e., it hasn't tried very hard or for very
long!

The two problems must be related, but I can't figure out the "root
cause". Any other Eudora/Gmail dual citizens out there who might be
able to help??

Hi:

I seem to have solved my own problem, in case anyone was watching.

Looks like the "Secure Sockets" settings both had to be set to
"Required, Alternate Port". Seems to be working now.
