There is something drastically wrong with gmail at work, my cursor
disappears while I'm typing, spacebar hits sometimes cause it to scroll
and lose the cursor. The same thing is happening in Groups and
Spreadsheets. All Google apps, not others.

I think it has to do with the auto-save feature which is great, but
it's rendering gmail unusable. I'll have to switch soon, even though I
don't want to, because there's no way I can have an email system that I
can't write emails.

IE 6.0
Windows XP

There's a setting in XP which makes your cursor disappear when you
start typing. Umm, look in mouse setting or something in Control Panel.
Try looking at the keyboard setting in Control Panel also.

My network isn't causing any problems in other online applications
(ebay, amazon), just google applications.
The problem is Google, or Microsoft's treatment of google applications.

It's not just the cursor, my typing stops alltogether, so I have to use
the mouse to reposition the cursor and begin typing again, then it
happens again.

Anyway, I was so frustrated, I had to upgrade to IE 7.0 which I didn't
want to do. IE 7 stinks, I'm now dealing with a lot of other problems.
The cursor thing went away a little bit, but not entirely (see below).

Also noticed when Google apps would first load, the cursor would go to
the obvious box, like when you hit the "c" keyboard shortcut button to
compose. The cursor USED to go right for the "To:" field and you could
begin typing right away. Now it just doesn't find it, effectively
making keyboard shortcuts worthless (what's the point? If I just have
to locate the mouse anyway to put the cursor in the To field, might as
well forgone the shortcut and grabbed the mouse in the first place.

Yes, and that did remove some of the problems, but now I have a bunch
of IE 7 problems. I don't feell like I should be forced to upgrade to
7.0 just because Google can't get their apps to work on MSFT equipment.

If the problem was truely Google's then there'd be millions more
people complaining of this same problem. The problem is locally
related to you, most likely in your equipment.

It sounds from your other posts that you have a focus problem. Some
program is grabbing focus from the active window, and you have to
force focus back. You should try this on a clean install machine, or
go to a public library and use their system. This will allow you to
see that the problem only occurs on this one machine.

Also, as an alternative to uninstalling whatever is stealing your
focus, you can use Alt-Tab to change the focus back, rather than
having to move the mouse.

I agree that Firefox is a great piece of software. However, if there is
another program stealing focus, using Firefox won't help.

Same here, it started a while ago, don't remeber exactly when, didn't
change my machine config.
The problem is that the text input field loses it's focus (NOT the
window, so it's not another app) when gamil does an autosave.
I do not have the time to read the code, but apparently tje script that
does an autosave removes the focus from the text field.
I'm using Windows XPP SP2, IE 6. (I'm also using FreeBSD with FF, which
works fine).

I hope there will be a solution, because yes, I can use IE at home, but
at work I want to use gmail as well (same problem at work).
