I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with automatic
filtering. This is a very good feature of gmail but im having some
issues. Basically I have set up filters to check for keywords in the
subject line of emails and then apply a label BUT if i have a filter to
see if the subject contains for example the word "test" then to apply
the correct label, however if i get an email with a subject such as
"blahtestblah" or "blah_test_blah" then I cant seem to get gmail to
recognise this.
Any advice? Thanks in advance.
There is no simple solution to your dillemma (subject lines with words
run together) but two possible work-arounds could include:
>>creating extra filters for common run-together subject lines; you can apply the same label to numerous filters
>>creating catch-all filters for email addresses (this works best assuming the same people consistently email you and consistently inhabit separate 'spheres of influence' in your life) if one filter won't catch it than the other will
(?#2)On the same topic, is there a way to mark messages as read, rather
than simply archiving them when filtered? I have begun using Gmail to
backup important (to someone paranoid like me at least) .txt and .doc
files and it irks me that there doesn't appear to be a way to do this
except through a POP3 client (thus defeating the purpose)
