Dear All,

how does Show/Hide Quoted text function work in GMail?
Sometimes it doesn't hide anything (which is very confusing), sometimes
it cuts down the signature from my emails (what I receive)?
Any ideas? How can I report that it doesn't work properly?

Um... it works fine for me. So, random "- Hide quoted text -" links
appear in your email which don't hide anything? Are you sure?

The signature is one of the things which will be hidden by it, by the
way.

It tries to identify the text that is in the previous messages in the
same thread, independently of typographical signs, like " > ", and
hides it.
If you send something, and got it back, your signature will be in both
the first and the second message, and will be hidden there; same if you
reply a third time: Google will consider it quoted from the first
message.

I've also found that occasionally groupings of whitespace get found
and hidden, so it will seem as though nothing was hidden, when infact
a whitespace was hidden.
