Hi --

Not sure if this is a gmail problem or an Outlook Express problem and
am hoping for some suggestions.

I am an Outlook Express stationery enthusiast -- meaning HTML email
with scripts, inserted graphics, background sound, etc. My gmail
account is configured for POP. Everything is working absolutely
perfectly. The heavily formatted HTML messages that friends send to
my gmail address arrive absolutely intact in Outlook Express. The
copies that remain at the gmail website don't reflect the HTML code,
but that is to be expected, and it's fine.

Here is the problem. My friend and I recently configured her gmail
account exactly the same as mine. I can't find any settings that we
have overlooked that are different. Despite that, on my friend's
computer, all her HTML mail arrives in her Outlook Express Inbox
almost completely stripped of code. She can see an inserted graphic
but not in the position where it was placed. There is no background
color, no marquees, etc. When I look for the source code, most of it
is gone.

Can anyone suggest what we might have overlooked?

Thanks.

If you use "Show original" on the Gmail web interface, do you see the
expected code?
If not, then the problem is upstream somewhere (i.e., before the
message gets to Gmail).

The code is there when I do "Show Original."

(Thanks -- I wasn't aware of that option until now, so I learned
something already.)

That is good news. There is no Gmail setting to strip the code for
POP downloads, so it must be an OE setting. I do not use it, but
maybe someone who does will join the conversation.

Look for a "View" menu or setting.
