Hello everybody

I have an account here at Google and I like it so I was thinking of
getting a Gmail and make a really account that can do more here on
Google. But when I was gone register, I wanted to use ca...@gmail.com
just like I have on my Yahoo. But it appears that you have to have 6
letter or more to register. Why how come? Can't it be 5 instead? I
can't see what the safety reason for having 5 instead if 6 letters
makes a difference.

Can somebody tell me why and if there is a way I can get pass this?

Best Regards

Google's answer to "why" from the Help Center:

And the only way to get past it, is to make the name longer. At a
single digit to the end.

Why 6? It's probably an arbitrary number.

You could register something like "Cair.X" which is 6 characters long, and
then you can use "CairX" in your emails because Gmail ignores periods within
the account username when it is receiving emails. (I'm pretty sure you can
do this ... haven't actually verified it with a 5-letter username.) I think
you can set it up to send them that way too. Within the headers that
normally aren't displayed, there will be lines with "Cair.X" in them, but
most people (except Microsoft Outlook users) wouldn't see them.

According to the link I just posted from the Help Center, that won't
work. Says periods are not counted in your 6.
