filtering inbox does not work correctly.

Hello. 

I want my inbox to be clean. 

That's why I have made all of the filters like this:

Matches: from:({exam...@mailtest.com,exam...@mailtest.com,exam...@mailtest.com,exam...@mailtest.com,})

Do this: Skip Inbox, Apply label "supervisors", Mark it as important

yet EVERYSINGLE new email remains at the inbox unless i manually run the filter "Edit > and then: Also apply filter to XX matching conversations." and then the inbox is emptied.

any suggestion on what I should do or anything I have skipped?

I don't use it, but I'd suspect the "Mark it as important" might be putting the Inbox label back on it.  Have you tried without that option checked?

Also, the () mean AND and the {} mean OR... so you've got both an AND and an OR on the same list. Have you tried removing the ()?

The () parentheses just means grouping; it itself doesn't mean AND.  The AND is what happens whenever you have a list of terms not inside of {}.

Also the () might have been put there by Gmail.  Most of my Filters have them, and I didn't put them there, and I can't remove them (they don't appear when I go to Edit a filter).

I wouldn't have used the commas to separate the addresses, but it appears they might not hurt.

The option causing this was: 

Filtered mail:

Override filters - Include important messages in the inbox that may have been filtered out. Don't override filters

because as I said, the filters run OK when I edited them.
