We all suffer from information overload.

I publish a newsletter and wrote an article this week on a technique
that I use Gmail for to keep track of ideas, information, resources,
URLs, snippets of code and information from discussion lists, etc. I
think you'll find it interesting and useful. If so, please feel free to
link to or forward the URL internally at your company.

It's a free small utility to sent the info to gmail accounts without
type email addresses and with labels

Interesting, but I don't see any advantage to using this program as
opposed to just using your email client.

Because it's web based and you can get to it from anywhere. Also the
space allotment is higher than most other email accounts through an
ISP. And you can search it easily. My email client (at work) is Lotus
Notes. No way in hell I'm using that for personal organization. I can
barely make heads or tails of it with my work stuff.
By the way Adam, nice article. Thanks for sharing it.

I wasn't referring to Gmail but the program gmailit, which is used to
transfer info to your Gmail account. I don't see an advantage to using
gmailit as opposed to your regular email client (to send the
information.)

It's easier and quicker. You just keep the GmailIT windiw open on your
desktop, nad simply drag files into it. No need to enter an address,
just type a subject ans then you are finished.

Google is great for making notes on things. I use it to make notes
while I am on the phone to my patent agent. I can brain dump all the
detail he gives me over the phone. The "conversation" is with myself.

I only wish that I didn't always have to put an email address in. There
really isn't a need for this. PINE can deal with emails with no address
that are just saved in sent-mail.

You can omit the email address if you save the note as a draft.

I do this too, sending notes to myself. I have a filter for messages
send to and from myself auto-labeled, so I can find the messages
easily. If you reply to your message to yourself, you can build a
small conversation thread with related info.

I will try GmailIT as well; it sounds like a great, automated way to
get messages send to yourself. Thanks for the article Adam.
