I currently have a gmail apps email address and a regular gmail
address. We closed our company and so we are wanting to do away with
the gmail apps email addresses that are tied to the company and just
use our regular gmail accounts. I have changed all the forwarding, but
I can't seem to find a solution to retrieving and forwarding all my
archived emails to my regular gmail acct. They are pretty important
and there are a lot of them. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I can think of two ways:
1) Use IMAP to get in to your old GA accounts and save the messages
using an e-mail client program (OE, Thunderbird or similar). Whether
you choose to then use IMAP again to send them into your personal
Gmail account is rather up to you!!
2) Use Gmail Backup (a free non-Gmail program to take a complete
backup of your messages onto your own storage) to download
"everything" in each GA account (except the Contacts data). Again,
it's rather up to you as to what you do with the message data after
that. The messages are stored in .eml format so you'd need to use OE
(or similar) to read them as and when you need to. You can save the
Contacts info by Exporting the data as a .csv file from within
Contacts.

You would need to enable pop3 in the Gmail apps accounts then in the normal Gmail accounts use the 'Add new account' feature to full all the apps emails in.

Also I would invite you to look at
