Seperate the file into smaller files using some kind of archiving
program (like WinRAR)

YES! If you use POP.

In Outlook Express go to Tools/Accounts/Properties/Advanced

Under Sending check the little box and then set the size to 7500 KB.

This works the same way as sending files in newsgroup. It physically breaks
the message into parts no larger than 7500 KB (in this case) and then sends
them all as separate messages. When they are received the email client
SHOULD combine and Decode the parts automatically.

I would use 7500 KB (instead of 10,000) to allow room for the MIME encoding
that is required for each message to be sent. File attachments REALLY jack
up the overhead.

You could use a service like You-Send-It...

Their address is www.yousendit.com.

They support files of up to 1gb. You basically upload the file to their
server and they'll send a link to your file to your recipient. It's
free because your recipient will see ads around the link to download
the file. There are other similar services out there.

What I like most about this option is that you don't clog up your
recipient's inbox. Not relevant if they use Gmail, but they not always
do.

PS:
Would be great if Google would offer a similar service and integrate it
into Gmail...
