I'm curious to know what " ✆ " this symbol means. It shows up beside
the name on e-mails. It is sometimes green and sometimes red.

I don't think it has any correlation to weather the person is online
or not, as it doesn't correspond to the Google chat at all.

I also don't think it indicates weather a message has been read
either...

Would this have been something I added myself through the labs?

Any ideas?

It's put there through use of the Time Zone Labs project.
It's supposed to advise whether the other party is in a 'suitable'
Time zone to be contacted.

It is part of the Sender Time lab. It shows green when the sender's
current time is between 9am and 6pm.
