When I click on 'reply to all' in response to incoming mail I get the
original copy recipients listed in the CC box but when I try to add
more from my contacts list the name I start typing does not pop up for
auto completion. I have tried typing in the person's full name, as it
is in my contacts list, but the maill is still not sent that person.
This only happens when I am using 'reply to all', auto complete is
working fine when I use CC in the normal course of emailing.

Have I somehow switched off the autocomplete part of this action for
'reply to all' answers?

Any ideas anybody?

AFAIK it's not possible to turn off auto-complete, so that shouldn't
be the case.

I'd report this in a bug-report if I were you. Google needs to know
something is happening odd. If could be browser related, or simply
your account, so be sure to include all information possible.

You have to a comma after the last name for Gmail to realize that you're adding a new person.

Thanks for the suggestion Zac about sending a bug report to Google.

Firtunately there was no no need on this occasion because in fact
Ryan's answer got it in one: I typed a comma after the first name in
the CC list and everything after that comes up on auto complete.

Thanks guys.

The autocompletion thing has not alwaays been perfect, though: I had
problem having it work at first, with or without previous contacts,
commas or reloading the page. Now it's been fine for mounth, but until
the out-of-beta, I will always look at it as a shortcut more than a
feature.
