Is it just me or anyone else notice increase of SPAM making its way into Inbox in the last few weeks?

I've noticed a significant uptick in the number of spam messages period, but no, I'm not having a problem with them making it to my inbox.  Make sure you are marking it as spam so that the learning filter updates to catch it in the future.

Maybe it's just you.  I have not noticed an increase of Spam in my Spam folder in the last few weeks.  If anything, it has gone down.  I have not seen any of them in my Inbox lately either.

Much of the Spam that you receive is specific to your account and what you use it for.  I have an email account I use for Yahoo Groups and it gets plenty of spam there, not sent to me but sent to those particular Yahoo Groups (which lack active moderation).

Yes, of course I mark everyone of those as spam but I do get half a dozen of new ones on a daily basis in the last month or so. It appears that few friends who have me in their contact book got their mail account 'session hijacked' few times recently which would possibly explain the sudden increase. Sounds like nothing I can do about that other than marking them as spam!

I see an increase in number of spams.
All the spams go into my my "updates" folder.

Google, are you listening ?

Are you marking every one of them as Spam?

What, exactly, would Google listen to?

Have noticed the same thing - except for me, it's the last month or so (May/June 2014).   Am marking them as SPAM, but now am doing so 2-3 times daily, vs. perhaps one per month before.   Something has changed.

Spammers are constantly changing their tactics to get past the tools that catch them, and consequently GMail occasionally changes their detection algorithm.  It happens.
