suddenly I can't insert any text in Gmail

I've been using Gmail with Chrome for a while.  If I need to insert a letter or word and click on the place I need to insert I get a highlighted cursor.  When I start to type it over writes everything and I have to retype the entire email from that point on.  

This only started a few days ago.  I also noticed that my cursor is not visible if I click in the "To", "CC", "BCC" or "Subject" fields.

This only happens in Chrome.

I am using Windows 10.

​This has been discussed before on the group. You should just be able to hit your 'Ins' or 'Insert' key to change the mode.​
