I use Google Apps and frequently get long emails. But I've noticed now that Gmail clips virtually every message longer than a paragraph. Why ????? I am now I forced to constantly expand most messages I get. Really, really annoying. At least give users an option to turn this off. Again, this is Google showing complete contempt for its users, and seems part of an obsession to dumb down every possible Google interface so that it fits a mobile phone screen.

Not on mine it doesn't.

Before you jump to conclusions, how about doing some troubleshooting? Did you clear cache and cookies? Did you try another browser?

I haven't seen that, but I use regular Gmail most of the time. My
messages are rarely displayed clipped, and then only the
extraordinarily long ones. So I would say this is not a normal Gmail
thing. (I should check my Google Apps account to see if it is the
same. Google Apps and Gmail often differ.)

Is it possible your incoming messages have some sort of unusual
formatting, so that they are very long in HTML code but display only a
paragraph or two?

Andy

Along that line...

I have a friend that just started a service that uses HTML to format stock market information.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of his messages get truncated, and I only see the first few lines of a table he has.

When I saved a message, it was well over 300KB in size. Recoding that HTML on my own was under 5KB. The problem is that the tool he is using to convert an EXCEL range to an HTML table sets all of the necessary styles for every single cell in the table, instead of creating a class that can be used for a default or in place of all of those setting in each cell.

I can't convince him to do otherwise, and the constant need to expand the messages are driving me batty.
