Hi!

I have been trying to create a second email account with
gmail, but it seems really complicated and hard to understand.

I have been studying the directions starting with settings, but it
seems like it is saying to import another ISP account.

It gives directions to enter account name in the "from" field.

Most email ISPs give the option for 5 email addresses.

Can some please give me a hand on how to create a second account at
gmail?

Thanks!

All you have to do is go here https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=mail

I believe what you are referring to is the custom "From" feature of GMail.  That feature allows you to send messages from another email account that you already own.  Adding an address there is not the same as creating a new GMail account.

Also, keep in mind that GMail is not an ISP (Internet Service Provider).  GMail is an email provider.

Settings... is not where you want to be to open another account.

You need to go to http://mail.google.com/mail/signup.  and follow the instructions.  It is very straightforward.

Thanks!

I was nearly going berserk trying to figure it out!

One more question though if you don't mind; Do you know if I can
choose my user name?

Gmail seems to give you a version of your own name. I would really
rather not have that, as the account is for business.

Yes you can. Google is simply making a suggestion based on your name,
you can type pretty much anything in the box to check for availability
(if it's already used it will tell you).
