Hi,

I would like to set up a simple filter:

1. identify all incoming emails where I am THE ONLY ONE in the 'to:'
field. Those emails are usually the most important and where I should
be focused on.

2. label those emails (easy).

Thank you very much.

Manuel.

AFAIK Gmail's built in search parameters don't have a way to detect if you're the ONLY one on the TO line, and a script created one would be huge I would think.  It's pretty easy to catch ones that list a specific address so you could always to that, and even tell people if they want you to take extra notice of it to use that address... like "manuel+i...@gmail.com"

However, Gmail has a setting called Personal level indicators which does indicate if you are the only one an email is addressed to. It's not 100% relib=able, and there is no way to label based on it as far as I know, but it at least marks those emails that are addressed to you and those that are addressed only to you. Depending on what else Manuel wants to do with his filter, that might suffice.

Gmail already does this for you with the > and >> symbols. You will find it under  Settings >> General tab. It's called Personal Level Indicators. Here is the description of the feature.

------
- Display an arrow (  ) by messages sent to my address (not a mailing list), and a double arrow ( » ) by messages sent only to me.
------

I think this should suffice for what your after.

I see Sean already mentioned it. Sorry I only read the first 2 emails and seeing you were looking at the filtering side of things I quickly hit reply before fully reading all the replys.

The following seems to work (haven't tested it much though):

Create a filter
To: me
Doesn't have: Cc:

Good luck!

I don't think that will work (though I haven't tested it). If you and someone else are in the "To" field then the filter will likely run the filter on that message too.
