Hello

Does anyone know of a way to edit the subject line - without having to forward the mail? Typically want to do this when archiving and need the subject to be more descriptive.

Many thanks

AFAIK, the subject line of a message you already have, cannot be changed.
Nor can the date, the sender's name, or the contents.

You could probably get around that by using IMAP to download it to
your PC, edit it there, then have IMAP restore it to Gmail's servers.
Something like that.

I don't know of any email provider that allows you to tamper with email that others have sent to you. Only programs like Outlook make it seem like you can, by allowing you to tamper with the subject line of the copy of the email that they download to your computer. And what does tampering with other people's email subjects have to do with developing email on Gmail's part? It's not a function of any email.
