This evening I had occasion to use gmail from an ssh session to a
remote machine. In the past, this worked.
Apart from all the warnings about invalid cookie paths ("Accept
invalid cookie path=/calendar as a prefix of '/accounts'? (n) ") and
certificates ("SSL error:Can't find common name in
certificate-Continue? (y)") I was disappointed to find that the list
of mails contains only checkboxes -- no link that takes one to the
mail, and so no way to reply. Can this be?
I looked for a "basic HTML" link, but there was none and there was a
message: "For a better Gmail experience, use a fully supported
browser."
What a stupid message. It's like telling someone in a wheelchair that
they should use a fully supported pair of legs. If I'm using lynx
there's a reason, dammit.

Done, for what that's worth. After submission one gets an obtuse
"Thank you" and the request is gone into the void. A tracker URL to
http://code.google.com/p/gmail/ (doesn't exist) would be the proper
response.
Sorry for being so curmudgeonly ..
