Gmail says offline constantly

I noticed I hadn't gotten any emails in a few days so I went to Gmail and looked in my inbox and had only old ones from days ago. I try to refresh it and it says I am off line. Which I am not. I went to the promotions mail tab and the same thing....no emails and when I try to refresh it says I am offline. So I tried going to help and feedback from Gmail and again I am offline. I am going nuts trying to figure this out. Please help!!
