I have a lot of Filters on my various Gmail accounts and it is
cumbersome to find and edit the filters i have. it would be nice if
there was some sort of system to organize the filter by type (i.e
filters that apply a label versus filters that delete a message).
this could be done with the use of color code or sorting them under
various headings.

it would also be great if there was a way to keep track of how often
and how recently a particular filter was applied to a message, and
users could delete filters that weren't needed anymore.

Additionally, some kind of notification if there were conflicting
filters or when messages get filtered twice.

finally, a dialog box to search through the user created filters for
ones with particular aspects would be good to.

peace,
Tully

I too have a lot of filters. Having the ability to label and sort your
filters would make them much easier to manage.

Yes, It would be really useful!
I have a lot of filters too, growing every day, and it's really boring
to manage then.
Functionalities as:
- Sorting filters by type
- Multiple criteria filters. I need to create ten filters to groups 10
friends mails.
- Filter conflict Alert
- Menu for create new filter based on a received mail. For example,
from the Sender name, I could clik right button and see the option
create filter.

Hi,

As an addition to the threads:

http://groups.google.com/group/gmail-labs-suggest-a-labs-feature/browse_thread/thread/904f918a6339616a/79c3305888bc1dd8?lnk=gst&q=filters#79c3305888bc1dd8
(Sort Filters, find filters, unused filters, organize filters)

and

http://groups.google.com/group/gmail-labs-suggest-a-labs-feature/browse_thread/thread/ceac0eb6ecf626bd/fe11082129a526b2?lnk=gst&q=filters#fe11082129a526b2
(Domain wide filters & Per-user access control)

I would like to suggest the ability to export and import filters (or
more precisely formulated: filter descriptions).

As far as I can see, the format

Matches: to:(xx...@xxxx.com)
Do this: Apply label "somelabel"

that is being used in the Filter list at http://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1&#settings/filters
is probably sufficient for this. So we would need a parser and
exporter of this kind of descriptions in order to share useful filters
within a company, or on the web, e.g. a lot of email management tips
could be expressed as Gmail filters.

Thanks in advance,

I admin a Google Apps for Domains acct for about 150 users. Most of
these users are not computer savvy - I'd love to help them with
"prefab" filters that can be shared company wide. Being able to export
and/or label filters would also be extremely useful to me as a Sys &
Net Admin/Support Manager/IT Director since my filters number between
100 and 150 (I used OR to consolidate a bunch - but man, what a
laborious, manual chore...)
