Hi All,

There are already a number of threads on this subject and even a suggestion option for "Delete attachments from messages under helpful additions" which appears to have disappeared.

One thing I cant find is an explaination of why it has disappeared.

This would be a very useful addition.  One (cynical) suggestion is that Google have not added the feature as they do not want people to reduce space, this forcing them to pay for more.

Another suggestion was to simply forward the email to yourself (minus attachments) and delete the original but this is undesirable as it breaks the search function (ie mail is no longer from person x, date of sending may change etc).

Please can you re-add this suggestion to your suggestions page and/or give us an update on whats going on.

Thanks & regards

John

Allow mail forwarded from a Gmail account to be stripped of its attachments before forwarding (make it a part of the forwarding filter to select to strip attachments before forwarding).
