If there could be a way to attach several files at the same time,
that would be great.
Also being able to attach a folder with the multiple files you need
to attach would be good too.
I really think there must be millions of people this could help and
the more people that ask the question and request this service the
better chance we have of Google getting this to its users, so if you
agree post you own request too.

Absolutely YES!!!

It's so annoying to attach one file per time!!!

Please Google masters, hackers, gurus and genius, do it!!!

But well... There is a technological problem.

One way to upload files with html/javascript is using the <input
type=”file”> element, that is the one used by gmail (take a look at
the html source code); this element allow just one file per time... So
there shouldn't be any other solution.

But...

There is a smart solution implemented by the Stickman (
http://the-stickman.com/web-development/javascript/multiple-file-uploader-mootools-version/
) using DOM.

I'd take a look on it, it sounds really really smart!

There is... it's called ZIP. Every major OS has it bundled now, so
there should be no problem zipping all the files you want to send at
once then attaching as a single file. This has the added benefit of
making your total message smaller, so it's less of a burden on mail
systems that it passes through, and if some of your friends have a
smaller attachment limit than you do, it increases the likelihood that
they'll be able to receive it.

Yeah, but ZIP is way too many more steps, and it's something known by
only the computer savvy.
I agree that multiple upload selections at the same time would be an
incredible feature.

It's not by the gmail team, but until they get around to it, this is a
very effective way to quickly attach multiple files (for Firefox
users). The add-on allows you to drag and drop files into the gmail
"attach a file" field. A nice feature, and multiple files can be
dragged at once.

I am goin to check this out but still I insist that it should become
core in GMAIl. That will indeed make GMAIL. THE KILLER WEB EMAIL
CLIENT!

That's a ridiculous suggestion. We want more steps not less.

What would really be cool is to combine the ZIP comment and the "too
many steps / computer savvy" comment and code it so that the user
selects mutiple files for upload and Google ZIPs them as they are
attached (or not, based on a setting). Still one step for the user,
but efficient.
