There are plenty of notification messages I need to read once to know the content, but then don't want it cluttering up my inbox.  These don't fit into the category of the social, promotions, etc in the categories tab.

Ideally:

1)  allow us to create custom categories with rulesets like social, updates, promotions, etc

2)  or, just enhance existing filters so that they can run after a message has been read / you click some action to apply the filter

a.  if I select multiple message and mark them as read from the inbox, then process the filter
b.  if I am in a specific message, show a button thats called mark as read and apply filter

Ideally I'd use Google Inbox, but my organization (and I suppose many others) will not transition to that for some time given we are 40,000 people who may not make the switch so easily.

thanks!

In case you think someone from Google monitors this forum, take a look at:

So, keep on asking/+1/begging/pleading/cajoling/threatening, you never know...BUT, don't hope for a miracle :-)
