In the future of Gmail.....do you think they are planning to put in the settings "Forwarding and POP" settings
"Delete permanently Gmail Copy" so that we don't have to log into Gmail all the time to delete the trash or Sent bin?  Also maybe a setting where you can have it where when you send something out that it does NOT put anything in the Sent Folder?

I use Incredimail....and even it has delete from server and a setting where you don't have to have anything put in your sent folder, that it deletes it automatically!  It even deletes all mail out of the trash upon exiting/closing the program...............so I'm wondering if Gmail is gonna do something to this effect?  It isn't the fancy stuff, but it sure would make alot of peoples lives alot easier.

I just happened to log on to gmail from the website to check and find out why my gmail was bouncing when there wasn't anything in my inbox....only to discover there was a ton of emails in the "Sent folder" and All Mail Folder as well as "Trash folder".  I think it would be so much easier to implement something where the user can chose whether or not to have email put in the sent folder or not.

And what is with this crap with having to click on a drop down window to delete messages?  Why not a Delete Forever button right from the Inbox?

Ok I will get off my soapbox....LOL  Thanks for listening!

P.S  If you hit reply button it will come back to you invalid email address so click here instead:

well, Rita... this is something that a lot of us would like to see
implemented. I know this is old, but I will say it anyway. This is
beta software and all of the little bells and whistles will be added
before they will release the software. During the 60 minutes segment,
they said that gmail will not be released until they are fully
satisfied with the product. Remember, "do no evil". =p

LOL  You're funny!  "remember do no evil =P"  you're cute!
I guess that is the same as "Do unto others as you want them to do to you" only a shorter version eh? LOL

Thank you for your reply...but I think to be honest that the "Delete botton where the inbox folder is" isn't what I'd call bells and whistles...LOL  Yes I do realize this is a beta, but how are they gonna know what the people want if we don't holler...*Laughing*!!

Maybe would consider the "Delete forever part in the POP/Forwarding section is" could be considered bells and whisltes I guess but I doubt that too....especially since they have "Trash Gmail Copy" there.  Instead of Trash Gmail copy they could have Delete permanently Gmails Copy......*laughing*!!!

Sigh!  I guess only time will tell eh?  LOL!

Thank you for your reply!  I needed a good laugh!

Your ISP should give you their SMTP mail server address to send email,
if you're not happy with Gmail's automatic archiving of all your sent
mail, just put in your ISP's SMTP server settings instead of Gmail's.

You can always change the settings to "Trash Gmail's copy" in the
"Forwarding & POP" Settings tab. Then you won't have to worry about
keep on logging in and deleting it yourself since Gmail automatically
auto-empties itself every 30 days (or is supposed to anyway).

Well, the Gmail philosophy is to not trash messages since with 1000 Mb
of space, you wouldn't really need to. I don't think that's ever going
to change.
