POP access retrieving sent messages

I've been accessing/sending gmail from my mobile handset via POP for
some time. Recently I've noticed that after sending an email, the sent
message is retrieved the next time my mail is downloaded. It is terribly
annoying.

Only the email sent through the Gmail web interface should be POPed
upon the next request. No way around it excepts for setting up a filter
on the application side.
