1. Can you use a vcard to import into contact details, and if not, why
not?
2. Why isn't the subject bar of an email in closer proximity to the
current message if you are 2/3 replies on from the original and want to
change it? Couldn't it be made to duplicate for each thread?
3. Why isn't the size of each message displayed? This may be
irrelevant considering the capacity of the service but should you need
to delete messages to free up space and wish to do so purely on the
basis of size would you need to enter each message to view the size of
each attachment?
4. Why can't you scroll instead of being given a link for 'older'?

All good questions! Why don't you send them to the gmail team so they
know what is on your mind?

It's amazing that you were able to get something that said it was
bounced back to you! I've never had gmail do that to me before - if an
email never arrives at it's destination, I've not received any
notification by gmail, other than it was "sent". Maybe they've fixed
that!

I am new to Gmail, but that sounds worrying. Is Lisa correct, do
emails that fail to arrive, simply disappear. If so, then that is one
good reason not to switch from Yahoo, at least from there, I do get
"mail-failure" responses, when something goes wrong.

Remember that Gmail still is in a beta stage, some of the features we
now have, weren't here since the beginning

Hi Luis. Not sure how to intepret what you're saying... Are you saying
that it does give a failure notice or not? Just for the record I got
two mail returned messages a few days ago to an email account that
bounced so it would appear from my experience that this is implemented
in the latest developments.

Actually I never had problems with failures notice, because I haven't
send mail to account that is full or nonexistent

I will try to recreate the problem, others are welcome to try and post
their results

I don't know whether it'll give you a failure notice or not. I do
remember a couple of weeks ago I got a mailer daemon return mail thing
in my account, but it was from someone who'd spoofed my email address.

There've been instances where I've sent emails to friends not only with
MSN, but Homail, Yahoo, and to Mail2world that never arrived, and I
never got a notice.

I'm not horribly concerned about it at this point, however, because I
have an understanding of what BETA testing is, and I'm sure it'll all
be worked out when the product is finally launched in it's full glory.

opening up, and on the left hand side, you can click on "contact us",
then click on "get help with a technical issue". Under choose a topic,

click on "view all", and at the bottom of the list you'll get you will
see "my issue is not listed here". That'll take you to a screen where
you can report your gmail issues.

Gmail is a beta service, but where do you get vcards? I rarely
encounter these and why would I need to import them? You can import
contacts...

The subject of each e-mail is viewable under "More options" and the
subject for the thread is also the subject of your browser window...

Gmail wants to change the norms of traditional e-mail standards. One
way is to try to get the users to forget about space. People who have
used free email providers in the past have had it so ingrained about
conserving space that it becomes second nature to delete large
messages. With 1gb of space (and I don't doubt that could expand
later) the need to delete files isn't very relevant.

I have a fairly high e-mail usage, or so I think, almost 4000 threads
and over 100 megs of space used. You can search for all e-mails with
attachments "has:attachment" and those are going to be the e-mails
with the largest space. It is also possible we'll be allowed to delete
attachments from e-mails later, it is a proposed feature.

> 4. Why can't you scroll instead of being given a link for 'older'?

You mean how it collapses the already read threads? You can scroll
through all of the just click "Expand all" and scroll all you want. Or
expand the messages you want individually. I'm not quite sure what you
mean here.

Keep in mind here that Gmail is still in beta testing. Therefore there
will be bugs and features not fully implemented yet. You're beta
testing this e-mail service, so you shouldn't expect it to be a final
product like yahoo's mail.

Yahoo didn't build their e-mail service from scratch like google is
doing, so give google time. I fully expect them to provide an e-mail
service that is every bit as functional as yahoo or hotmail. :D

I understand that this is a beta. But having said that, it has been a
beta for quite a long time now, and certain features, like a
"mail-failure" response, should have been basics.

I am reassured though, by the number of people who said, yes they do
get "mail-failure" responses if they send to a 'bad' address.

I will happily give Gmail time, and from what I have seen, it will be
well worthwhile!
