I've been searching the archives on this one, but have turned nothing
up so far. (Although I have picked up a thing or two along the way!) So
apologies in advance if this has already been covered.

Is there a way to search for only emails that have no label attached?
I've tried my hand at advanced search and filters, but no luck yet.
Lookin' to learn as always!

perhaps using the minus operator, like -label:labelName1 OR
-label:labelName2

just add more for every label you have.

note... not tested. most likely wrong.

Is there a way to quickly know which group threads we participated in
(kind of starred topics) ?

sure...

if you're using the web verison of ggroups you can star messages just
like you would in your gmail account. if you look at the google groups
page you'll see a link for "my starred topics".

may be he is asking about non starred topics , if it is then my answer
is ....

click "show options" besides to the nick name in any topic, there you
will see a link "Find messages by this author" ....

You are both refering to the google groups web site, but I was
actually talking about GMail itself :)

I am reading this mailing list in GMail, not using the groups web site
and I can not easily see which discussion I participated in, just by
viewing the subject. I'd like a different color or symbol (like the
star) for that special threads where I am in. Of course I could star
each discussion I am interested in, but since I am replying to a
particular thread, it means I am interested and the marking (starring)
process should be automatic.

I think it would be a good suggestion to Google.

Mickael.

This is a lot handier than the utility I've seen in some non-Google
forums, where you have the option of getting an e-mail sent to you
every time someone replies to one of your posts.

This would be a handy feature. I'd love to be able to be in my inbox,
select only labeled discussions, and then archive them. Then I could
easily take care of all the unlabeled stuff.

Not a solution when you have a lot of labels.....

how is this not a solution? just type it all once and copy and paste. you
can join queries using OR and AND.

It seems to me that most of this thread has veered off to answer
Mikhael's question:

>Is there a way to quickly know which group threads we participated

in
>(kind of starred topics) ?

However, I am still trying to implement your original suggestion. Still
funcused though. (I, too, have the added difficulty of many labels.) So
any fresh ideas would be appreciated, if anyone has any. But no biggie.
We can move on to bigger and better things.

Rachel's solution works for me.
