Gmail need a radio button for people to choose standard view or html
view on the login page. Whose's with me...

if your browser can display standard view why would you want basic html?

HTML can be considered "good" in some cases : Like if you want to read many mails at a time, you can open them in new tabs while reading other mails. This is time saving and helpful for slow connections. But gmail doesn't need to include the option of standard view and html in the login page. I think it may be confusing for an average email user(and gmail users are average users). A lot of friends of mine don't know about this html and standard views. So, it may appear confusing to them.

If you are an advanced user and want to check many mails simultaneously then you can open the same frame in many tabs or many windows by just pasting address in the new window.
Also if u view HTML view it gmail stores it in cache and when u relogin it automatically opens ur account in HTML view so there is no need of giving such links on login page

and when you are reading a message, you can tear it off into a new window

like with the "new window" button in full gmail?

Tracy, you can do that with a right-click on the email that you are
going to view.

The reason why i suggest this is because some users are have problem
login into gmail with active x. Especially those having old cpu specs.

Gmail does need the option on the login screen to use html. I usually
access Gmail through my Sidekick via pop. On occassion I need access to
my full Gmail account through the browser. The SK browser doesn't
support the full version of Gmail. Unfortunately Gmail does not
identify my browser as being incompatible resulting in timeout erros
while trying to connect. I end up having to enter the actual address
for the html version which is cumbersome.

Nah. I end up adding the /h to the end of the url to access the html version. I have it bookmarked. It's nothing to get my panties in a bunch about. Besides, the sidekick browser identifies itself as mozilla.

I don't think they need it. people can just do it after they log in

through it would be nice to have the option to always have it in html when logged in or not
