OK I guess if this isn't the right place for this I will get told to
move it..somewhere else!
Anyway, when I am logging in to gmail I have three different autofill
names (because I have a brand new laptop and I made mistakes before
when I was trying to log on) and I want to know how to get rid of the
wrong ones so that only the right one shows up whenever I start to type
in my username.
Any suggestions IF this is a windows problem or does it have anything
to do with my logging in to gmail at all!
Curious as to how to fix it.
Bob

I'm assuming you're using Internet Explorer to check your gmail
because you mentioned autofill. Open IE and go to tools > Internet
options. Go to the Content tab and look for 'Personal Information'. In
that box you'll see the 'Autocomplete' button. Click that and you'll
be presented with the option to clear your forms.

But if you are using firefox hit the down arrow, highlight the bad
name. Hold ctrl and hit delete.

OK Ryan
I'm using the basic version of Firefox ( ver 1.0.4 with no extra
extensions except to allow Java as I have a Java applet running on my
web page) and I tried what you suggested ..holding the down arrow,
highlighting and then control-delete...but nothing has changed.
I'm using FF to access gmail through the web. I know I should have been
more careful when I was typing in the first time and it doesn't affect
the functionality.it's just a nuisance!

No. Once you are in the accountName box, hit down. A small menu should
drop down containning the usernames. Hit down till the "bad" one is
highlighted. Now hold control and hit the delete key, not backspace.
The hightlighted name with be removed...

Hi Ryan
I did exactly what you told me to do but I still have the same 3
usernames showing up and 2 of them are wrong . the first one is
incomplete and the last one is my whole gmail address. I have a check
mark to save username so all I have to do is enter my password BUT it
doesn't matter what I do I can't get rid of the two incorrect
usernames. Guess I'll just have to live with it!

Just go to the privacy tab in FF options and click the clear "saved
form information".

Just reset the forms in Firefox, it is sort of what Derek said. I
don't know what is wrong because I did it this morning...the CTRL+
Delete thing. and worked.

Thanks Derek
That looks like it will work. I'm just going to write down all my
usernames and passwords for sites I visit regularly and just have the
pages auto filled out. It would be a bummer to wipe everything out and
forget what the u/n and p/w combination is! thne you have to get your
info mailed to you
Anyways I don't know why the control-delete function doesn't want to
work for me. Could it have anything to do with the problem I have of
not being able to navigate links that are in emails? I have to
right-click, copy and then paste in a new window. It's VERY annoying
and I haven't figured it out yet either. I updated my IE, because of
Outlook Express, and got all the latest security updates. Maybe I
should just get Thunderbird and leave OE in the program folder!

Nope the control delete works in any form, the url bar, and even the
Google/Search bar. So it is very hard to say what is happening. Saved
form and saved password I think are two different boxes. So if you
click "yes save user name and password", when you click clear forms
you shouldn't loose those...

via this thread. No personal emails...A mod will porobably ban him
soon.

If you are using Internet Explorer and a wheel mouse place your cursor
over the autofill menu and scroll the wheel. The click delete for the
item/items you want deleted.
