Hi,
I am Rebekah, a new member here and I will post under the introduction
thread... soon.
However, I wanted to share something funny/interesting that happened to
me yesterday.
Decided that I wanted a secondary gmail account. I used an invitation
link that I had earlier sent to a person in Germany, but was never
used.
Signed up as mygleneagles as just gleneagles was already taken of
course. I think that is such an incredible beautiful name (c: !
Anyways, went through the sign-up process as usual. When I was finished
and inside my new account I noticed that I had gotten the addy
mygleneagles at googlemail.com.
At first I was stunned, but later on I remembered vaguely, reading
something about some dispute in Germany about the name GMail and also
made the connection that my link originally was sent to a person in
Germany.
However, this made me curious so just for fun I tried and sent an email
to mygleneagles at gmail. com. Arrived nicely! Then I sent one to my
own, old addy but with the ending googlemail.com which also arrived in
good order.
So...apparently both domains work!

So I wonder if anyone can use googlemail.com as well as gmail.com for their
email's suffix? That'd be neat.

Well, I sent another account of mine an email using googlemail.com and it arrived so I guess the answer is yes. :)

Oh, one thing is really weird though:
Here, at the Group page, at the top where you can see who you're signed
in as, it doesn't say googlemail.com!
When I tried to post a reply to Scott's post from my email account it
didn't work. It said I wasn't a member so I couldn't post. Probably
because of this...

Even though I signed out and in again with my full email address
yada...@googlemail.com I end up signed in as yada...@gmail.com!
It's probably therefore it's impossible to post from my email. It's
okay to post directly here at the board though...
