I would love to see the gmail address book be similar to yahoo's, I
like it where you can just select the ones you want ( without typing ),
then just click on insert addresses.

- jamie

P.S. I'd also like to see a block sender feature, or block domain,
because report spam doesn't always work.

I'd like to see GPG signing and/or encryption of outgoing emails.

i'd like to see some POP3 access and for the sign in page to be
different because the boxes for account name + password don't show up
in my school because the blocker is gay and because of how the page
was written.

go to settings > pop/forwarding. i was assuming that all gmail
accounts recieved the upgrade.

unless you meant pop3 support for other accounts so you could download
messages into you gmail account... they don't have that feature.

I want a Gmail Calendar that I can use to link to other people's (and
public) calendars. I'm sure Google is working on this, but it's what
I'd like to see..

it to the group's FAQ]. :P

about the address book there is a way juz :
1)Click 'Contacts' along the left side of any Gmail page.
2)Select all contacts you would like to send a message to by checking
the boxes next to their names.
3)Click 'Compose.'

Yeah, it's already secure enough. High-grade 256 bit encryption.

Yep, but this workaround doesn't work when you are forwarding mail.
Then you still have to manual type your email addresses :-(

Is there a way to change the FAQ so that you can direct people to
specific passages? Simply saying that something is in the FAQ is less
helpful, since the FAQ is pretty long.

I don't think I've got the hang of this Google Groups interface. I
wanted to add to the "features I'd love to see in gmail" thread, but to
do that, I have to reply to a message that has nothing to do with what
I want to say. I'm not really replying to jeroen's message, but if I
don't reply to his or someone else's message, my only alternative is to
start a new thread. Have I missed something?

cyberdiva

Here's a feature I'd like to see in Gmail: an easy way to reply to a
message by quoting just a small part of someone's message or not
quoting anything at all, rather than quoting the entire message. On my
main email client, I can simply highlight part of a message and hit
reply, causing just the highlighted part to be quoted. It's great for
dealing with long messages. Also, I run an email list where I
sometimes have to approve messages, and the only way I can approve them
is if I'm able to reply with just the letters "OK" - my reply has to be
totally blank except for OK. In Gmail, that's very inconvenient to do,
whereas in my main email client, I can choose on the fly whether to
quote the entire message, just a selection, or none of the message.
I'd like that same flexibility in Gmail. I could never think of using
Gmail as my main email without that feature.

no, you are right. the web interface really blows. i'd suggest using gmail
to handle your list messages. you can create a filter by using TO:
"Gmail-Ge...@googlegroups.com" & subject "[Gmail-Generation]". send our
mail to a defined label (like "Gmail-Generation") and you'll find it a lot
easier to use the group. you can also email google and tell them how sucky
their web interface is, perhaps.

feature for gmail, really... especially because it could be easily done
using javascript. make a suggestion to google. good work. :P

Well, I guess I'm glad to know I didn't miss something obvious, but I
almost wish I had! I don't want to use my Gmail account for this list.
Having so many list messages mixed in among my other messages would
make it very hard for me to eyeball my inbox. In theory, I really
like the idea of "labels," but in practice, I find it harder to look at
my Gmail inbox as opposed to my main email client inbox, where I've
filtered all list mail into separate folders and thus out of my inbox.
That's one of several reasons why I really prefer to read newsgroup
messages via the web. It's a pity that the Google web interface is so
poorly designed. Maybe I'll take your advice and drop Google a note
about this.

you can filter your mail into labels & tick the top box, which REMOVES
it from 'inbox'

so its just in your labels :)

This is how I understand it works. Correct me if I'm wrong (Scott?).
There are two ways of replying. The first one is the reply link which
is hidden behind the 'show options' link (used for this reply) and the
second is the reply link right at the bottom of the message (the one
you used).
The first one creates the 'show quoted text' link and the other one is
used to post a new thread in the topic.

hey j, i guess you've got it right, but the quick reply link still works
okay (and that's what it is for). we only stress to leave quotes in so other
members know what you're talking about, but otherwise any way you reply is
fine. does that clear things up for you?

Replacing the 'start new topic' link at the top of the screen when you
are allready in a topic with a 'post new message' link would be a big
improvement. I think this link is the main reason why this group was
'spamed' so much with all the requests for free invitations in the
first place.
It's almost hard not to make that mistake, since you have to hit reply
if you want to post a new message...

please, pass on this suggestion to google. they need to hear this stuff.

also, you can subscribe via individual message. it's much better using
groups that way, especially with gmail's conversation view. :P
