Just FYI...I may be getting another 1-18. I'm in the middle of
dealings with someone right now and may be able to pick it up this
weekend. I think it may be avocado green but can't make out the year
or model just yet. I'll let you know what happens!

Hey guys...
OK, so I managed to get the elusive 1-18 last night from a really nice
couple last night. The machine is a 1975 model WC. It's cosmetically
not in too bad of shape although the machine is VERY dirty as usual.
At least this one doesn't have mouse feces in it like my other 1-18
did. That was disgusting! Anyways, Patrick (pdub) was very helpful
and went with me to get it and move it into its new home. We plugged
it in to give it a test run and we were both absolutely shocked. This
machine has the quietest spin and agitation of any 1-18 I've ever
heard before. It is in pristine mechanical condition as far as we
could tell. That alone definitely made it worthwhile to save this
washer. I've spent all day today so far breaking the cabinet down and
giving it a really good scrubbing. I was fortunate enough to be able
to get all of the screws off of this one so the cabinet would come
apart. Cutting those suckers off is a real pain. I should have it
all back together by this afternoon hooked up and ready to go.
I'm sure someone out there has literature for these machines so you
all know what the WC model has. There are 4 temp selections...no cold
wash option so it's either hot or warm wash and warm or cold rinse.
Two speed selection, infinite water level, and 3 cycles...Normal, Perm
Press, and a roughly 20 minute long soak cycle which is nice. The
agitator has a few chunks knocked out but I've honestly never seen one
that didn't. The tub is in excellent, shiny condition, and it's going
to clean up nicely. I'll have photos this evening!
