I'd really like to find a 1-18 or older Rollermatic or Multimatic washer with a matching dryer. I searched for quite some time in my area (I live near Montreal in Canada) but I have found none...

Can anybody give me some advices on how to find these?

Phil

Hi Phil.   Ray here from New Jersey.   Did you try ebay or Google?  I know these are hard to find.  Maybe someone on automaticwasher.org will sell one to you.

I love these machines.  My parents had on in the late 60's a Rapid Dry 1000.   Then when that went the bought a 1-18.   They were both great machines.  Although,  the Rapid Dry did spin better.

Nice to meet you.  If you want to chat some night, let me know.

Hi Ray,

I look on eBay but mostly local classified ads like Kijiji (eBayclassifieds in the States) and local Craigslist but all I have seen so far were two dryers without the matching washer (among them was a nice 1959-60 Custom Imperial dryer in Montreal that was sent to the junkyard!).

Hi Phil, 1-18's are plentiful around here. I know of someone right now with at least one for sale. If you are willing to cover the shipping I am sure we can get one on the road for you.

Don are you missing the motor? These are rare birds. Can your motor be rebuilt, it might be quicker.
I'll try to look under the skirt of mine and see what the Emerson motor number is, that would be your best shot at one.

Hey Mister, Thanks for your response.  This is the machine I bought from Greg Mayer a few years back, three speed tol washer, that arrived with a two speed motor in it.  The two speed works great, but two of the cycle settings (extra slow speed) don't work.  :-(  I would love to find the right motor, and appreciate any ideas... How is 2011 treating you so far handsome?

Hi Don:
Well 2011 is looking up ,way up. I have the final formulation for "Splash" detergent and am working furiously to get it off the ground! Thats the hard part.

Artey is getting more and more wonderful by the minute, however this winter is taking its toll, with 52 inches of snow and 7 degrees out there is no place to exercise him enough! He is stir crazy!
I know, I know this tale is like carrying coals to Newcastle when telling it to a born and bread Minnesotan!
We are experiencing -15 -20 windchill which I find is tireing in some odd way, It makes me want to curl up and sleep.
Yesterday in the truck with Artey I was running around with a light sweater, unzipped light fall coat, no hat , no gloves, and feeling just fine when I passed 3 bank signs with 19 degrees on them! Thats how far I've come with cold adaptation this winter!!!!!

  Whats your news hotstuff??
I'll crawl under that machine sometime this week for ya!
oxox

Hey Mister, Thanks for the note.  I am sorry I missed your visit to MN, I was skiing in Vermont and than spent NYE in Montreal.  Had a great time.  Both Robert and Gary called my home # leaving messages for me to come and join you for dinner but I didn't get those as I was out of town.  Was great to see you this past fall.  My basement is almost completely finished, complete retro style.  It will be a very fun entertaining basement and I will have to host something small at sometime.

Hey John, Remember the Crosley you, Jeff and Cal brought out a few years ago.  It had been in Jeff's garage, was pretty rough on the outside, lots of rust.  Had it painted last week and it is a showpiece.  Thought I would send a pic.  Headed to Greg Nunn's tomorrow.
