Monster Hunter Rise is making the move to all consoles, as the previously Switch-exclusive game will soon be available on PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series XS, Xbox One, and Windows. Plus, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to Rise joining the service for consoles, PC, and cloud at launch.

Unfortunately for hunters who have already poured hundreds of hours into Rise on Switch or Steam, cross-save and cross-play is not planned for the Xbox or PlayStation releases. This means if you want to play on these platforms, you'll have to start from scratch. Fans requested cross-save and cross-play leading up to Monster Hunter Rise's Steam release as well, but Capcom said they were unable to implement the features at the time.

The new versions of Monster Hunter Rise boast improved performance over the Switch release. 4K resolution and 60 FPS are supported on PS5 and Series X, along with 3D audio. Ranged and shielded weapons will also make use of the DualSense's adaptive triggers on PlayStation 5.

Monster Hunter Rise is a great addition to Capcom's long-running franchise, and Sunbreak added a lot of cool new monsters on top of the base game. Sunbreak is still getting new free content drops, most recently adding a trio of new monsters in its latest update.

Early 2023 will be a busy time for hunters, with the multitplatform release of Monster Hunter Rise coming just a few weeks before EA and Omega Force's Wild Hearts, which looks to hit a lot of the same beats as Capcom's hunting franchise.

As players defeat monsters and progress through the game, items carved from fallen foes can be used to craft unique weapons and armor that increases their chances of survival. Hunters can tackle these challenges solo, or with up to three other hunters in cooperative online play.

Monster Hunter Rise also introduces new hunting partners called Palamutes, personalized and rideable Canyne companions that provide players with new sets of attack options. The Canyne Palamute companions join the series favourite Felyne Palicoes in assisting players while out on hunts.

Starting March 2024, Monster Hunter Now will introduce a Season system, with each season lasting approximately three months and featuring exclusive storylines (Season Stories), quests, and rewards that can only be played during that season.

Season Stories can be playable after the Pre-season Story(*) is completed. After a season ends, the Season Story of the past seasons cannot be played again. (*The story may be reprinted in events, etc.)

Until March 2024, the Pre-season Story could be replayed, but this feature is no longer available after March 2024. Instead, you can replay each Season Story until the end of the season. Progress in the Pre-season Story is retained even if a season ends during its playthrough.

During the season, Season Tier Points are earned by completing quests, defeating large monsters, and participating in events. Accumulating a certain number of Season Tier Points increases your Tier, unlocking rewards corresponding to that Tier.

By exchanging Gems for the Season 1 Premium Plan, you will receive paid rewards designated in the Season Pass when you reach a higher Tier during the season. For more information about the Season Pass, please refer to the FAQ here, and for more information about the Premium Rewards, please refer to the "Rewards during the Premium Plan validity period" section.

It may take some time for the exchange of Gems to be reflected in the app. The validity period ends on the closing date of the season, which is announced within the app two weeks before its conclusion. Each season lasts approximately 3 months.

The required number of Gems for exchange, sales period, and exchange frequency may be subject to change or termination without prior notice. Additionally, the number of Gems required for exchange for Premium Plans is to be revised starting from Season 2.

After exchanging Gems for the Premium Plan, you can receive the rewards designated for each tier of the Premium Plan as outlined in the Season Pass, throughout the validity period until the end of the season. If you exchange Gems for the Premium Plan mid-season, you can retroactively receive the rewards for the tiers you have already reached.

The Season Pass resets with each season. Unclaimed rewards cannot be collected after the season ends and the reward claiming period has passed. Any rewards not claimed by the end of the reward claiming period will expire. The reward claiming period after the season ends will be announced in the app or on the Community Forum once determined.

If you've been enjoying your time with Monster Hunter Rise on Xbox Game Pass since its arrival back in January, you'll be glad to know the massive expansion "Sunrise" will be available to play on April 28th!

@jkald physical on monster hunter is a big waste of plastic, the games are constantly evolving and getting updated, so you will always have half the game on it, even Monster Hunter XX on switch that its an old game has DLC and things that are not on the cart. And you will definitely have a better experience playing it when its populated online.

@AlienigenX You certainly make a good argument there. I think on 360 in Japan there are like ten different discs for the Monster Hunter that was on it. And I think you can't even play it any more (might be wrong on this).

@Joeynator3000 Exactly, there is no streaming but you download whatever games you like and play as much as you want. Currently, there are around 200 Xbox One and 360 games. There is also Game Pass for PC with a different selection of games.

@Joeynator3000 On XB1, yes and it's fully Xbox One X enhanced. Not on PC but it hasn't been ported to PC, given how much of XB1's games have been ported to PC so far I wouldn't be surprised if it happened eventually.

Wouldn't having Gamepass on Switch be the digital distribution version of Jean de Florette? What I mean by that is, if you are playing a third party game via Gamepass, where is the incentive to develop that game for Switch and more to the point, wouldn't Nintendo lose out on their percentage as platform holder? If it is coming, there must be some awfully complicated conversations going on lol.

If it isn't on PC, I don't see it coming to Nintendo any time soon. If they release it on PC and it does well, I could see it potentially coming to Switch. But despite the rumors, my money is on it never happening.
