Dear colleagues,

at Monday’s GLIC audio meeting we discussed strategies to indicate reliability and update status of tools/databases listed on the GLIC webpage (https://glic.glycoinfo.org/). To simplify the update procedure for this webpage we propose the following strategy:
• Every database/repository/software provider offers a public accessible JSON/XML file (format to be defined) with the up to date information about his tool. This can be a dynamic script as part of his webpage or a static file in his GIT repository.
• Each provider registers the location of his file with GLIC
• Kiyoko and Yamada will work on a robot that in (a) regular intervals downloads the files and updates the GLIC webpages; or (b) on the fly access the files and provides the GLIC entry with up to date information.
For the three types of tools (software, database, repositories) individual list of information will be expected.

Please review the proposed procedure and let us know if you have concerns or alternative proposals. For the list of information that is expected for each type of tool please have a look at (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CBTsBIzqnzvBMQ5D3bkZzxjJ1zEfSI0zan1aZpD05Lk/edit) and leave comments or additions. We will finalize this procedure and the file format by May 15th.

All the Best,
René
