Hello,

Are new standalones automatically handled by the autoUpdate process

Thanks

Todd

Yes. The updater updates the entire application each time. Trying to update little pieces doesn't work so well. For one, your apps should be signed so trying to update them in pieces won't work on OS X. On windows you end up with the wrong version information in the .exe.

My current setup, that I started using when I released Clarify 2, is to use a full Windows installer for the auto updater on Windows and Sparkle on OS X. I've found this to be the most reliable solution. Windows has been especially troublesome in some corporate installations and the full installer solves all of the problems. Sparkle requires an external from Monte. I've worked everything into the GLX App Packager, though. I just need to document.

That sounds great Trevor. I am building some interesting node.js, HTML5, LiveCode mashups and having a reliable installer would be awesome.

Trevor,
I'd be very interested in the new update scheme myself - sounds great!
