Did you make a live wallpaper that uses GLWallpaperService? If so,
post a link here. We'd love to check it out.

My app, Photaf 3D Panorama pro is using GLWallpaperService for its
live wallpaper.
But I've been having crashes with it, when going to the settings, and
back.
Didn't find any way of fixing it :(

Hello, I am developing a few papers that use this wonderful project and will post a link once they are in the market. I had a question for those of you that have paid wallpapers in the market; do you use the LVL service or otherwise any other recommended form of copy protection? I currently use LVL for a paid app of mine, but don't really see how it would work well with a wallpaper service?

I don't use copy protection on Celestial Bodies. And yea I've seen it posted on a few file sharing sites. What are you gonna do. If someone can't be bothered to drop a buck or two on the market ignore them. No use chasing after cheapskates.

I've put a lot of work into it and I'm happy with the results but let's get real here. A live wallpaper isn't much more than a toy. Don't over think it too much. Put in a good job and take some praise for your work.

I created a GLwallpaper that uses FFmpeg to draw a video. It's bare-
bones but it should hopefully be useful:

I just launched a couple recently in collaboration with an artist I know who loves android and wanted to do some live wallpapers.  I used this GLWallpaperService, and it was my first time implementing something with openGL, so a lot of learning involved, and still learning as much as I can when I have some time.  Originally I used the Canvas API to come up with some prototypes, but openGL is really the way to go for performance, and I'm sure I will optimize these further at some point.  These are pretty simple, just some 2D texture rendering and scrolling, scaling.

"Biomechanical Skull" and "Arcane Sewer Demon" are the ones we have up so far:

Bump. Hey there.

Just released this a few weeks back. With the "Just In" section gone there's like zero exposure on the market anymore. Guess I need to put out that lite version. And be bothered to write more extensive descriptions... Anyone else know any good ways to get some love on a new app?

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gentlemandroid.android.Spritely

I've been sitting on this one for a while. Used to have colored lighting for the different pixies. Looked really neat. Actually that was the whole idea behind the thing. But then it kept having that catastrophic freeze/reboot "CPU May be pegged" nonsense on HTC hardware. Damn point lights and buggy drivers. So I removed that and focused on a few other things. I still like the result.

Anyway have a look if you would. Apologies for the lack of a lite version, you can always just refund if you don't like it:P

Hi Josh, I'll pick this up and check it out.

As far as getting some love, I'm not sure I'm in any position to tell you, since I've only been releasing papers for a month or two (and mainly for fun), and your other papers do very well and have sold far more than ours.

But I did notice our latest one (Mystical Skull) was on the top new paid on my tablet market, right on the front, in the top 10 (it's a new category, I guess like just in but less constantly moving?), which has helped our modest sales.

We do have a free version of it, and we make sure in the preferences to always have links to get more papers, and to rate it in the market, etc.  It has all 5 star reviews so far so maybe that tickles Google's algorithms.  I think the free / premium version thing works, as long as the free version doesn't just give away the whole cow, and doesn't annoy them.  People seem to like to upgrade to support things they like.  We do plan to do some experiments with not having a free version though and seeing how that compares.

If there's any of the bigger dogs on here that can chime in I'd love to hear more voices on this, too?

Just launched another one last night:

Just launched one more, this one's a bit simple from a coding standpoint, but was fun to do:

I've just released my first wallpaper.  I spent a bit of time writing the underlying framework, sprite rendering etc., which I'm hoping to expand on that going forward.  But right now, I'm just happy to get an app released finally!

.... saying that, the chances are that the people that read this group might not be in the target demographic for it! :)

Here is a new one that we just launched tonight:

It's a steampunk android, Cat (the artist) has been having a lot of fun lately coming up with these things.

This one was a lot of fun to do.  Hopefully we can start doing some true 3d ones in the summer, there's a lot to learn there but I'm excited, just hope to find the time!

I've released a new wallpaper called 'Soaring Hearts'.  Simple and fun.  I decided to try out releasing a feature-limited free version as well as a feature-complete paid version.

Cheers :)

One we launched a month or two ago that I forgot to post:

Hello.

Huge update to one of my old live wallpapers. Been working on this one for over year. Went in so many different directions. This is my first published using libgdx so we'll see how that works out. Really proud of the music visualization though. Sorry no free version atm.
