puzzle #274 on the long-dormant blog will be themeless 88; i'm cueing it up as a reward for when this transition fund hits 400 donors. if you can help get us there (and as the woman says, "no donation is too small and every single share counts"), i'd be honored.

in the meantime, i had last wednesday's new yorker and i'm up next thursday in usa today. but also who cares about my puzzles, there's so much great stuff out there right now! i've been digging adam nicolle's luckystreak xwords and brooke husic's xwords by a ladee, among several others. if you haven't seen it, matt gritzmacher keeps a great list of everything that's out there. personally i've mostly been doing british cryptics lately which to me is the cruciverbal equivalent of when something tastes weird but you keep eating it just to confirm and reconfirm that it tastes weird. please don't tell Serpent or Nutmeg or Picaroon that i said that.
