So this week I got some test results back that showed I was still getting gluten in my diet, despite the fact that we do one of the strictest diets of anyone I know. We brought our kinisiologist over AGAIN and had her test everything. We found that all the Bobs Red Mill flours tested bad (tapioca, potato starch and we already knew about sorghum) which we are guessing is contamination. Also some of the GF Namaste mixes tested bad. I should add we are gluten (being wheat, oats, rye, barley, buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa, spelt) soy, dairy and eggs unless the chickens were raised gluten free. (which we now raise chickens!) Also we react to anything "produced in a facility that also produces...." So we are VERY sensitive.

I spent the weekend trying to bake with coconut flour mixed with rice flour and had disasterous results. I work full time and depend on mixes to a certain degree. Does anyone know of another source besides Bobs for tapioca or potato starch flour? Or an extremely clean non-contaminated mix? Also we would love these to be organic but that seems to be really hard to find GF.

Thanks!

Hi Talia Rose,
Check out www.azurestandard.com based in Oregon.  They have a few gluten free mixes to pick from.  I haven't tried them,  so I can't speak to their quality or tastiness.  The brands are Montina and Mama's.  If you go to the website, and type in "gluten free flour" in the "search" box at the top right, it will take you right there.  I have tasted other items of Azure Standard like the rice noodles and salmon......both excellent!

Talia,
How do you get tested for gluten because they tell me the only way to have my son checked and rechecked is to have him scoped. He is still having problems we suspect he is getting contaminated from somewhere. We use Pamels's bread mix. Do you have any info on this bread mix. Thank you for letting me know about Bob's Red Mill. My son is Wheat, milk and soy protien free. He misses bread.

Pamela’s is contaminated with dairy and soy. Stay away from them. We use a kinisiologist – muscle testing – which is non-invasive. We have used her for 15 years and depend on her and trust her quite a bit.

We buy our bread from Ener-G Foods which can be ordered online. We buy it by the case (English muffins too!!!!) and it works even for how strict we are. It is not organic and if I knew how to make a sad face on the computer now I would.

Entero Labs does a stool gluten test that was pricey (almost $500) but it let me know I was still contaminated. It also let me know my villia are healed and I am processing my nutrients Ok so that is why I suspect contamination not outright gluten consuming. You can find them online.

My daughter was tested positive through a specific blood test.  Gastroscopy was only recently done as 6 months later Gluten Free, she still has serious issues.  Inquire into it, my American Health Insurance covered 90% of the cost.  (Canadian 0.00)

As for the bread, good luck.  Bob's Red Mill was about the best other than a GF store 30 miles from me (fresh baked).

Try ordering bread from Udi's Gluten Free online store.  It is delicious and we have tried them all.

so recently we found ourselves contaminated again and went through everything we eat with kinisiology testing. turns out the bobs red mill flours (tapioca, potato starch) as well as some Namaste mixes tested bad (to us ultra sensitive folks) I searched for some news flours or mixes and came up with this company

http://sweetiecakesco.com/

who is ORGANIC (big plus) and she has well researched each of her components to be sure they are all produced in a dedicated gf factory. we tried her brownie mix and it was great. we can't wait to try the rest. big plus is none of her mixes contain or need eggs!
She does wholesale pricing and free shipping for 8 or more packages.

wow, WHAT a find!!!! I am vegan and soy free (much to my dismay on the later) and it is soooooo hard to find anything I can use. And organic--what a plus! I wish she had some regular flours too, not just mixes. Thanks for sharing! Sondy
