Hi, I know it can be overwhelming at first, but you will get the hang of it. We use rice milk, I also buy oj that is fortified with calcium, I buy a yogurt that is made with coconut milk it is by so delicious, this is great because it has the probiotics that are especially helpful when you have had belly issues. The vegan gourmet makes a mozz cheese that is great, when melted. We usually shred it 1st. Most other cheese have casein even when they say dairy free. Also sunergie soy foods makes a flavored feta that is very good tofutti has the best sour cream but the cream cheese leaves much to be desired. I hope this is helpful. good luck Jennifer Hill -----Original Message----- >From: Monica Keehn <mrk...@gmail.com> >Sent: Jun 21, 2009 2:32 AM >To: Gluten and Dairy Free Cooking - Low Allergen <glutenand...@googlegroups.com> >Subject: new member > > >My son's dr just put him on a gluten free/ dairy free diet. thanks for your response!Where do I purchase vegan gourmet cheese? So sad that casin is in most cheese! Is casin still vegan? Have you found an alternative to the cheesy sauce for mac and cheese? We eat trader joes rice mac and cheese but maybe need a substitute. Do you know where to find rice macaroni all on its own? Thanks for your assistance! Where do you live? I live in Portland.Monica

So is goats milk not considered dairy? His dr just said eliminate dairy. I know it will be difficult for him so we are just starting with eliminating cows milk and icecream at the moment. Then we will work on the cheese and yougart. It gets expensive because I know I still want to eat cheese and yougart! Thanks!Monica

Hi, Our two daughter's can't tolerate cow's milk but can tolerate goat's milk, have you tried that? It has more vitamins and nutriens that the rice or soy milk., they have it in their gluten free cereal and tastes the same to them. Hope this helps. Sandy Federico

My son's dr just put him on a gluten free/ dairy free diet. We have been gluten free for awhile now, but dairy free seems so hard to get into! Are there supplements one must take? How does one get enough calcium? What are good cheese alternatives you have found? thanks!

Sandy, Just chiming in with the yougurt - So Delicious, by the Turtle Mountain Company, has a great coconut yogurt! They have coconut ice cream, as well. Ricera has Rice based yogurt. Luna and Larry's coconut bliss is another coconut ice cream option :) - Laura On Jun 22, 12:18 pm, sandr...@aol.com wrote: > Hi Jennifer, > Can you tell me the name of the yogurt with coconut milk??
