They are not supposed to be "tanned" at all, but they need to be very
crisp and dry. They will keep for at least a week if stored in an

Ingredients:
3 Egg Whites
1 Cup Sugar
1/4 Teaspoon Cream Tartar
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
Cooking Directions:
1. Heat oven 300 degrees.
2. In a copper bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt till
soft peaks.
3. Add Vanilla and Tablespoon of sugar at a time while beating until
firm peaks.
4. Either pipe or spoon meringue on a baking sheet. Bake for 30
minutes.
