Dear Colleagues,

Next Tuesday, January 21st, JLab Scientific Computing will upgrade all
farm systems to AlmaLinux 9.5. Even though this is a minor release, it
will introduce a new default version of the compiler gcc 11.5.0. As the
libraries and executables in the GlueX software stack are generally
stored in folders that includes the gcc version number, the paths to
software that was compiled on AlmaLinux 9.4 will no longer be valid.

Since a small portion of the farm nodes (farm1901-1960) were already
upgraded at the beginning of this week, we compiled the latest two
version sets with gcc11.5.0:

* version_5.21.0.xml: the current default environment

* version_5.22.1.xml: latest release

If you use one of these, all farm jobs will automatically select the
correct paths. On the other hand, if you see error messages like
"hd_root: command not found", you should chose a newer version set or
compile your own stack again.

Please let me know if you experience any additional issues.

Best regards,

Alex
