GSoC 2018 Proposal- Seeking a mentor

Hello everyone!

My name is Ziad Sabry and I am a student at Swarthmore College. I am currently seeking a mentor who would be interested in helping me with this project:

In short, I propose to create a GUI that will aid extra-galactic astronomers in their quest for flexible galaxy cluster visualization.

Since the core premise of the GUI will be to explore relationships among galaxy cluster data (i.e. recessional/peculiar velocity, coordinates of individual cluster members, cluster x-ray surface brightness and density, etc.) having a mentor from Glue will be extremely valuable to me. I would be able to (1) enhance my knowledge of object-oriented programming (2) garner an appreciation for how data-sets come together in astronomy to form a beautiful cosmic story, and (3) create a powerful tool that extra-galactic astronomers can use while conducting their research.
